Bushido Master Instructor Martial Arts Director
Master Kevin Kastelle Began martial arts experience in 1971 with a local Judo Instructor. He then searched for and found Grand Master Byung Yul Lee’s World TaeKwonDo Academy (at the time it was called Korean Karate Institute) in the winter of 1974. Master Kastelle obtained his first degree Black Belt in June 1976. He began studying Western Boxing at the University of Minnesota boxing Club in 1977 and continued to the West Suburban Boxing Club while successfully Kick Boxing in 15 Full Contact Matches (undefeated North American Heavyweight Champion). He then began Ninjitsu-Bugei Kai training at the school of Inner truth Martial arts in 1979 and was bestowed with the Black Belt in that art in 1982. Throughout his career Master Kastelle continued training in the Korean Martial Arts under Grand Master Byung Yul Lee becoming a Master Instructor in TaeKwonDo and Hapkido. Master Kastelle competed in, and won Grand Championships in Forms and Sparring at the U.S. Open, All-American Open and many National, Regional, State and local Karate Championships. He has competed in and won 3 U.S. National TaeKwonDo championships, 1 AAU National Championship, the 1984 Can-Am Games and the Olympic Sports Festival. In 1985 as a Member of the U.S. Elite TaeKwonDo Team Master Kastelle was presented with the Superior Achievement Award while he was a resident at the United States Olympic training Center in Colorado Springs. Master Kastelle also had the privilege of training in Kali / Jeet Kune Do and being certified by Dan Inosanto. In the winter of 1989/1990 and again in 1994 Master Kastelle traveled to Japan to teach Kicking techniques and study Shoot Fighting, Aki-Jitsu and Karate-Do and is now a qualified Instructor in those disciplines Currently an U.S. national A 1 Referee and training for 7th Degree Master in TaeKwonDo and Hapkido. Certified to provide baton & personal self-defense training to officers by The Minnesota Peace Officers Association. NAPMA (the National Association of professional Martial artists) qualified to certify Fitness Kickboxing Instructors. Tae Bo Instructor's certification July 1999. 1981 - Present: Instructor for the World TaeKwonDo (Martial Arts) Academy Master Instructor ¨ Directs Motivates, and Instructs students of all ages and abilities in martial arts and self-defense. ¨ Identifies and obtains goals based on individual needs. ¨ Develops group and individual programs ¨ Develops individuals’ self esteem confidence, responsibility, respect, accountability, integrity, and pride. ¨ Assists in student’s evaluation and advancement in ranks. ¨ Coordinates and directs martial arts tournaments for the State of Minnesota. ¨ Has Provided and teaches after school and summer school programs to Hopkins, Wayzata, Orono, Delano, Edina and St. Louis Park Public schools. ¨ Provides Community education through demonstrations as requested by various groups and organizations. ¨ National level Olympic Coach & Class A-1Referee (our USTU State organization.) ¨ President Olympic Black Belt Association ¨ Selected delegate to the 2000 Olympic Games 1981 -1985 Security for Duffy's nightclub Mpls. ¨ Originally hired as lead security for Harley weekend and Biker night. 1985-1990 Security for Bull Pen & Opera Hall Saloon Hopkins ¨ Maintain security for nightclub during weekend evenings. 1990-1996 Head of Security for White Knight Limousine service Bloomington MN. ¨ Security for the Crystal Palace two level limousine on Nightclub packages and celebrity body guard. 1992 – Present Public Schools Behavior Management Specialist Special Educator Behavior Management Counselor & Job Coach ¨ First two years working at Dowling Elementary. Transferred to Harrison School November 1994 –1997. 1997-1999 at Broadway School operating the Behavior (time out) room. ¨ Assist in planning and implementation of comprehensive educational program for students with severe behavior problems ant to perform other duties as assigned.
